Zinc Counter Top
Cole Valley

This custom zinc counter top was commissioned by a family who wanted all the benefits of stainless steel, including easy clean-up and low maintenance, without the harsh industrial look. Zinc is a soft and warm metal with a non-shiny matte bronze finish. The metal's anti-bacterial properties make it an ideal choice for any kitchen. Zinc is also a forgiving surface and minor scratches can be buffed away with fine steel wool. The counter was finished with rounded, kid-friendly edges.

The owners of this restored San Francisco Victorian wanted a country kitchen. This included a metal counter top that combined practicality with a warm, soft finish. Zinc is a great choice for any kitchen as it is non-microbial, won't stain or chip, and can be made to look cozy instead of industrial. (Zinc is the only metal surface that is anti-microbial, which makes it ideal for oyster bars and restaurants.)
